The first three CHS Fellowships in collaboration with the Division of Classics at AUTH were awarded to: Vasileios Liotsakis (post-doctoral Fellow, Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation, Ruprecht-Karls University, Heidelberg); Maria Chriti (Centre for the Greek Language and the Open University of Cyprus); and Androniki Oikonomaki (Laboratory Teaching Staff, Department of Philology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki). After the first six months of their research project, the fellows submitted papers for publication in the CHS online edition of First Drafts@Classics@. Maria Chriti and Androniki Oikonomaki participated in July 2017 in the Annual Scholars’ Symposium co-organized by the International Olympic Academy and CHS in Ancient Olympia. In addition, on February 1, 2018, the Center and the Division of Classics at AUTH held an educational event at the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki. Entitled “Through the eyes of the research fellows”, the meeting gave the fellows an opportunity to present their research to the community of AUTH and the wider public. The fellows will be traveling to the CHS in Washington, D.C. in March 2018, where they will connect with the Center’s academic community in the US, and conduct research in the Center’s unique printed library.
The program is now in its second year; the closing date for applications for the fellowships is March 20, 2018. The program will award up to three research fellowships, and the names of the new fellows will be announced in May 2018.
