Funding Forum on University Efficiency and Value for Society: Registration open
Building on the success of the previous events, EUA is organising its 3rd Funding Forum hosted by the University of Porto in Portugal on 6 and 7 October 2016.
The EUA Funding Forum aims to mobilise a Europe-wide dialogue on sustainable and efficient funding for higher education and research, bringing together university leaders and managers, researchers, students, public authorities, public and private funders and partners.
Launched in 2012 to address the ramifications of the financial crisis on higher education, the EUA Funding Forum has become the true highlight of the European university funding scene and a “must-attend” event for key higher education stakeholders who have an interest in funding matters.
Since the first EUA Funding Forum in Salzburg, Austria in 2012, public finances have been put under mounting pressure, emphasising the growing need for efficiency-driven measures and performance-oriented reforms in the higher education sector. Yet it has also become clear that efficient management is a means to deliver value to society and fulfil university missions in an effective way, rather than an end in itself.
Some of the fundamental questions that will be raised at the 3rd Funding Forum include:
• How can universities couple efficiency and effectiveness?
• Which policies and strategies can help universities to efficiently fulfil their missions?
• How can universities better articulate and demonstrate their contribution to society, in social but also economic terms?
Participants will exchange hands-on experience and brainstorm on applicable solutions that could pave the way to efficient and effective university management practices.
The Funding Forum will feature a series of high-level strategic discussion panels and expert presentations from notable speakers focused on the evolving funding trends and regulatory frameworks in European higher education and research, as well as on various efficiency-oriented institutional practices ranging from campus and infrastructure development to partnerships and reputation-building. On this occasion, EUA will also present its latest work on university funding including this year’s edition of the Public Funding Observatory and the results of the member consultation on the mid-term review of EU funding programmes.
Registration is open until 22 September. For more information, please click here.
