Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) made a strong impression at the 10th General Assembly of the Silk Road Universities Network (SUN), held from October 13–17, 2025, in the historic city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
Professor Zacharoula Andreopoulou, SUN Coordinator for AUTH and Director of the Laboratory of Forest Informatics as well as the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program “Tourism and Local Development” at the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment, represented the University.
The Assembly, which included an official opening ceremony and the Partners’ Board Meeting, focused on the future of digital and sustainable tourism. The university’s representative showcased AUTH’s initiatives in promoting sustainable tourism through the postgraduate program and highlighted the University’s centennial achievements, emphasizing its international reputation and long-standing impact.
The event facilitated strategic networking, attracting significant interest from international universities eager to explore collaborative opportunities with AUTH in research and educational initiatives, reinforcing the University’s role as a leader in sustainable tourism and global academic partnerships.
