AUTh Rector Discusses Academic Collaboration with Cyprus Minister of Education

In a constructive encounter today, Thursday, May 11, 2023, Professor Dimitrios Kovaios, Rector of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), met with Mrs. Athina Michailidou, the Minister of Education, Sport, and Youth of Cyprus, at the AUTh Rectorate.

The meeting, held in a positive atmosphere, welcomed the Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus in Thessaloniki, Mr. Konstantinos Polikarpou, and Mr. Ioannis Savvidis, Supervisor of the Office of European and International Affairs of the Ministry.

Discussions revolved around the potential expansion of collaboration and research initiatives between academic institutions in both countries. Both sides affirmed their mutual commitment to further enhancing collaboration.

Aristotle University maintains active Scientific Cooperation Agreements with four prominent university institutions in Cyprus: Frederick University, the Technological University of Cyprus, the University of Cyprus, and the University of Nicosia. These agreements encompass exchanges of Teaching and Educational Personnel (ΔΕΠ), undergraduate/postgraduate students, joint research program development, and the organization of international scientific congresses.

Additionally, within the Erasmus+ program framework, AUTh has 59 active agreements with eight university institutes in Cyprus, further promoting academic mobility and cooperation. The meeting underscores the dedication of both Aristotle University and Cyprus to fostering meaningful academic partnerships and research endeavors.
