On March 31, 2026, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki had the honor of welcoming a delegation of academics from Tongji University in Shanghai, as well as from Qingdao University of Technology in China, in the context of strengthening international academic cooperation.
The visit began at the Department of Chemistry, where the guest Professors Zhou Tao and Chai Xiaoli from the Department of Environmental Engineering of Tongji University, as well as Professors Sun Yingjie, Xie Wenjun and Bian Rongxing from Qingdao University of Technology were introduced to the Department’s educational and research activities and engaged in discussions on matters of mutual interest.
This was followed by a meeting at the Department of International Relations, during which the University’s framework for internationalization and its related activities were presented. Particular emphasis was placed on the further development of the already established collaboration with Tongji University as well as on exploring opportunities for future cooperation with Qingdao University of Technology.
The delegation also included Ir. Dr. Sofiah Hamzah, Associate Professor at the Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, who expressed interest in developing collaboration with AUTh in related academic fields.
During the meetings, prospects for strengthening cooperation with some of the participating institutions were discussed, along with opportunities to expand academic and research exchanges.
The visit was concluded in a particularly positive and constructive atmosphere, reaffirming AUTh’s commitment to promoting international collaboration and extroversion in higher education.
