Subject: International Student Week in Ilmenau 2017
Dear Sir or Madam,
We are a non-profit student association at the Technische Universität Ilmenau, Germany, and we are writing to you in order to request support for advertising the 13th ‘International Student Week in Ilmenau’ (ISWI) – ISWI 2017 – by forwarding the information below.
Since 1993, we organise the biennial international conference, ISWI, on a 'by students, for students' basis, whilst highlighting different topics. The conference is held at the Technische Universität Ilmenau, Germany, which strongly supports its organisation. Please find the letter of recommendation from the Rector of TU Ilmenau here.
The 13th edition – ISWI 2017 – is dedicated to the topic of 'Global Justice', with the motto “Global Justice – A Fair(y) Tale?”. It will be held from the 12th to the 21st of May 2017. For the conference, we are expecting around 400 students from around the world to come together, exchange their opinions on the topic and find solutions for recent problems. The application period is from the 10th of October until the 11th of November 2016. More information can be found on our website http://2017.iswi.org/.
We would be very thankful if you could inform your students, student associations and student publications about the opportunity to apply and therefore ask you to share the invitation below with them. Additionally, drafts for posters and flyers are available to be downloaded, printed and distributed at: http://2017.iswi.org/about/iswi2017/.
We look forward to welcoming and hosting students from your institution here in Germany and would be deeply grateful for your support.
For further information about the conference, or if you have any questions and hints, please visit our website http://2017.iswi.org/ or contact us directly via info@iswi.org.
Thank you very much in advance.
Yours sincerely,
Andreas Vieregg, Katharina Flinner and Benno Platte, on behalf of the ISWI 2017 Organising Committee
Dear students,
We cordially invite you to apply for the 13th 'International Student Week in Ilmenau – ISWI 2017' – Europe's 2nd largest student conference of its kind, by the 11th of November 2016.
The conference will be held from the 12th to the 21st of May 2017 at the Technische Universität Ilmenau in Ilmenau, Germany, and is dedicated to the topic of 'Global Justice' (link: http://2017.iswi.org/about/iswi2017/) with the motto “Global Justice – A Fair(y) Tale?”. The conference language will be English.
Once again, we expect around 400 students from all over the world to meet in Ilmenau, exchange their opinions, share ideas and gain new experiences during 10 days of group work, workshops, discussions, lectures and cultural events. For further information, simply visit our social media pages and our new website 2017.iswi.org (link: http://2017.iswi.org/).
If you are interested and will remain a student at that time, you can apply by the 11th of November 2016 by registering at http://2017.iswi.org/participate/apply/. There, simply choose a group you would like to join and submit a short essay about Global Justice and one about your chosen group topic. If accepted, you will receive an official invitation. During your stay, you will be provided with food and accommodation (through a host system), and all ISWI events will be free of charge. So you will only have to cover your visa and travel expenses.
For further information about the conference, and for questions and hints, please visit our website http://2017.iswi.org/participate/faq/ or contact us directly via info@iswi.org.
We look forward to your applications.
Yours sincerely,
Andreas Vieregg, Katharina Flinner and Benno Platte, on behalf of the ISWI 2017 Organising Committee
