With the Ambassador of Ireland in Athens, Iseult Fitzgerald, met the Rector of AUTh, Professor Nikolaos G. Papaioannou, today, Friday 20th of May 2022, in the Rectorate.
In the meeting participated the Associate Ambassador of Ireland in Athens, Mr. Stephen Duffy, the Honorary Consul of Ireland in Thessaloniki, Mr. Theodoros Mauroudis, the Supervisor of the Department of European Educational Programmes AUTh Mrs. Ioanna Georgiadou, as well as the Supervisor of the Department of International Relations, Mrs. Dimitra Mentekidou.
During the meeting, which took place in a warm and happy atmosphere, the prospects of amplification of the collaboration and the research between the academic institutes of the two countries were discussed, while both sides confirmed their mutual willingness for the further expansion of the collaboration.
The next expected time duration for the renewal of the Scientific Cooperation Agreement with the University of Dublin-Trinity College, is determined to be for three years.
Within the framework of the Agreement, are promoted, amongst others, the teaching and learning of the modern Greek language, and by extension, Greek studies abroad, since Greek postgraduate scholars will be given the opportunity to teach modern Greek at the Department of Classical Studies in the University of Dublin.
Additionally, within the framework of the Erasmus+ program, there are six active agreements regarding the Departments of Theology, Biology, Visual and Applied Arts, English Language and Literature, and Law, with four universities in Ireland, and in particular, the University College Cork, the Dublin Institute of Technology, the National University of Ireland and the University of Limerick.
