Doctoral Scholarships Program “China Studies Program” (CSP) for the 2025-2026 Academic Year at Shanghai International Studies University, China
Within the framework of the Scientific Cooperation Agreement between Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) and Shanghai International Studies University, China, the opportunity for doctoral studies with scholarships is offered.
The program includes:
Α. Joint Research Ph.D. Fellowship: Supports outstanding doctoral students enrolled in universities abroad to conduct research, write their dissertation, or study in China for a period ranging from one semester to two academic years.
Β. Ph.D. Fellowship in China: Supports distinguished master’s degree holders wishing to pursue doctoral studies in Chinese universities. The duration typically ranges from 3 to 4 years, depending on the academic requirements of the university.
Successful applicants will receive:
- Scholarship Benefits: Coverage of tuition fees, living expenses, international travel costs, and access to research grants.
- Academic Opportunities: Access to academic activities (forums, seminars, workshops, etc.), mentorship from multiple advisors (from Chinese and international universities), and in-depth exchanges with researchers from China and abroad.
- Future Development: Access to other programs under the “China Studies Program” after graduation, such as publishing doctoral dissertations and translated works, research visits to China, and participation in international academic conferences.
Eligibility Criteria
The program is aimed at candidates interested in engaging with humanities and social sciences fields related to China, with a strong academic background, clear research topics or goals, and the ability to conduct research in Chinese.
Additional requirements:
For the Joint Research Ph.D. Fellowship:
a. Non-Chinese citizens.
b. HSK 3 language proficiency level or higher (intermediate level).
c. Enrollment as a doctoral student at a recognized university abroad.
For the Ph.D. Fellowship in China:
a. Non-Chinese citizens.
b. HSK 5 language proficiency level or higher (advanced, capable of academic or professional use of the language).
c, Holders of or recent graduates with a master’s degree.
